| Semiconductor nanocrystals can be used as the basis for printed electronics. The particle size can be used to optimize the absorption spectrum to match the solar spectrum. We synthesize colloidal inks which can be used to create large area p-n junctions for solar energy conversion. Critical to this is the use of sol-gel technologies to enable low temperature, wet chemical processing of electrode materials. These nanocrystals can be used for conducting inks, for FETs, LEDs as well as photovoltaics. Our goal is to make completely wet chemical PV devices using inorganic materials or with conducting polymers as carrier blocking layers. |
