Previous Positions/Education

Oct. 2006 - Feb. 2007
Scientific Assistant

Group of Prof. Hans-Peter Steinrück, Chair of Physical Chemistry,  Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

Project: “Ionic Liquid Surfaces” (in collaboration wit the Chair of Chemical Engenieering of Prof. Wasserscheid, University of Erlangen)

Project involved preparation of Ionic Liquid thin films and characterization via X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (ESCA).

2004 – 2006
Master of Science Degree (Molecular NanoScience) at Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

Master Thesis

“Polyelectrolyte Multilayers on Micro- and Nanostructured Polyelectrolyte Brushes” (Laboratory for Micro- and Nanotechnology at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland)

Project involved preparation of micro- and nanostructured poly-GMA brushes, using a radiation grafting method, and their chemical modification. Development and construction of a dipping-robot to conduct layer-by-layer deposition experiments. The deposition behaviour of polyelectrolyte multilayers on the prepared brush structures was examined.

2001 – 2004
Bachelor of Science Degree (Molecular Science) at Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

Bachelor Thesis

“Untersuchungen zur Struktur von Membranproteinen: Die Rückfaltung des Rezeptors Tyro3 und der allgemeine Aufbau von b–Barrel Proteinen” (Chair of Bioengineering, Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg)
Project involved expression and isolation of the human Tyro3-D1D2 fragment from E.coli and characterization via SDS-Gel electrophoresis. Development of an algorithm to calculate the general structure of β–barrel proteins on the basis of distinct feature parameters.
